JCDC ( Jacksonville Cultural Development  Corporation ) is hosting its 3rd Annual Holiday Market at an indoor, family friendly arts market just in time for the Holidays! We will be featuring our favorite artists and artisans from Jacksonville and surrounding  areas. Come purchase unique gifts while supporting small business and our local arts scene.

 Every 2nd and 4th Thursday

This drawing course focuses on the fundamentals of visual vocabulary. Students work from observation using still-life objects and the human figure. Emphasizes the relationship of lines and forms to each other and to the picture format. Materials used:  charcoal, compressed charcoal, pencil, pen, ink, and brushes. Class assignments, discussions, and critiques.

$20 Supplies Included

Instructor- Marsha Hatcher

Hatcher was born in South Georgia and received her Bachelor of Arts from Albany State University. Hatcher approaches paintings with an emotional sensitivity that is easily seen in the faces of the people she paints. Hatcher’s expressionistic style is seen through her literal interpretation of her work.

Save the date for Public Art Week  to dedicate the Local and Legends mural created by artist  of Jacksonville Cultural Development Corporation ( Suzanne Pickett, Marsha Hatcher, Annelies Dykgraaf, and the Groundwork Jacksonville 2017 Greenteam. The mural  honors legendary Asa Phillip Randolph, Zora Neal Hurston, James Weldon Johnson, Bob Hayes and A.L.Lewis and locals, Clarence Williams, and Pearlie Graham,

Eastside Arts Alive - Introduction to Printmaking

 Free for Youth (ages 5-17) Presented by PNC Arts Alive.

Adults $15. This workshop is designed to introduce basic printmaking techniques using a variety of media. The focus will be on the history and techniques  along with demonstration. Thereafter, each participant will have the opportunity to work in the new technique  and then create their own print to take home.

Eastside Arts @ Jacksonville Public Market

Our First Visual Arts Lab will be held at the Jacksonville Public Market .

A series of Art Labs— hands on visual Art Making stations and performance stations of The Lyracist Live, a rhymes, beats and life program that provides supplemental reading and writing activities that stimulate and engage youth and audiences will be set up each Saturday morning for 9 weeks, designed to facilitate creativity.

Held at A. Phillip Randolph Park on Jacksonville’s Eastside/Springfield.  Classes for youth, grades k – 8 will be held for 10 Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Fall of 2016 and Spring of 2017.
